We Have Hope
We are proud to share with you our annual report, which shows how we supported 862 families last year with case management and financial support. Those families were made up of 2,093 people who were in eviction court, in conflict with their landlord, couch-surfing, living in hotels, or even living in and out of their cars. All people who were in a difficult spot. All people who would likely have otherwise lost their housing without our help.
When we share stats with the community about the housing crisis, sometimes people tell us that it feels overwhelming. Just one recent report shows that the cost of housing has increased by 75% over the last several years, while wages have only increased by 18%. This means that more of Idaho’s working families are living paycheck-to-paycheck each month, and when life happens they can’t not be able to pay for basic necessities, including food and rent.
Although the housing crisis continues to grow, we feel some hope. We strongly believe in the services and resources we are able to provide to families and what that does for them. If we can intervene at a critical point in a person’s journey with some support and funding, we can change the course of their life forever. We can give them peace of mind and a fresh start.
This past month Jesse Tree met with Health and Welfare Navigation to discuss ways to strengthen our partnership when helping clients. Jesse Tree case managers often work with H&W Navigation on eviction prevention cases for families with children to provide rental assistance and additional resources to our clients. H&W Navigation is an outstanding partner of Jesse Tree's and we are so excited to work with such a great team of navigators.

When we think about the positive impacts all of our work had on those 2,093 people last year, we feel inspired. The impacts an eviction record and homelessness has on a person’s life are serious, and can follow them for their entire lives - even generations. We hope you feel the same sense of hope when you check out our report, and we appreciate your ongoing involvement as we seek to prevent eviction and homelessness for another 1,000 families in 2022.

H&W Navigation is an outstanding partner of Jesse Tree's and we are so excited to work with such a great team of navigators. We have hope that this year Jesse Tree will be able to make sure that:
800 children won’t worry about where they are sleeping for the night
1000 families will remain safely and stably housed allowing them to cook, shower and do the daily tasks that we so often take for granted
We will provide help on our phone line to over 29,000 of our Treasure Valley neighbors seeking assistance while providing case management and referrals to community resources if they are not eligible for our programs
If we can provide those families with a hand up when they really need it, we can keep them housed. It’s a simple solution that continues to work. Our data still shows that of the thousands of families we’ve served over the last three years, over 95% of them are still housed and have not gone to our emergency shelters, even as the cost of housing continues to rise. We attribute much of that success to the thoughtful, loving work our case managers do with each of their clients, empowering them to change their lives.
