500 Families!

We are proud to announce that this month, we hit a benchmark in supporting more than 500 families at risk of eviction in the Treasure Valley. Each and every one of those 500 families was provided with case management including budgeting help, connections to benefits and employment, and landlord mediation, in addition to a check. That’s 500 families who may have ended up in eviction court and living in their car, the streets, or the shelter without our help. 500 families our case managers found a way to serve each and every week, putting heart and care into each family, despite obstacles as most of these families were already in eviction proceedings.

We say this every month, but all of this is possible because of you. Your donations, your time in spreading the word, and our volunteers who continue to help us field the applications that keep pouring in - 2,000 this year so far, and 15,000 calls and texts.

Last year, being able to provide support to this many families was just a dream. But this year, thanks to continued community support and a temporary government grant we received, we were able to meet our goal. By the end of the year, we hope to serve nearly 1,000 families, and we know you will help us get there.

This month, we will also continue to deepen our partnership with University of Idaho College of Law as we initiate its first Housing Clinic. The Clinic will enable us to better connect people in the Treasure Valley’s eviction courts to more holistic care including legal, social, and financial support.

The needs in eviction court are great right now. Despite the national eviction moratorium being in place for almost a year, nearly 900 eviction hearings have been held in Ada and Canyon County courts since then. We anticipate even more demand when the eviction moratorium expires on October 1. Boosting our ability to better serve families in court couldn’t have come at a better time.

Jesse Tree primarily uses private philanthropic funding to support our work in court. Again, we thank you for being a part of this work.
