Community Heroes
In September, the Jesse Tree team was honored to receive City of Boise Mayor McLean’s Community Hero award. Our team has been working so hard to serve families over the last year, even in the middle of a housing crisis on top of a pandemic. We are grateful for the Mayor's recognition of this difficult work.
Thankfully, we have more capacity to support tenants than ever before, but our neighbors will continue to need your help as the weather turns colder. Despite our growing capacity to serve more families, we are still only able to serve about 25% of people who apply for assistance. We are committed to continuing to grow to meet community needs, so that homelessness won't keep happening to our neighbors and community.
Our program team has been especially busy this month with the eviction moratorium ending. There have been over 100 eviction cases in September alone - a 167% increase from what numbers looked like earlier this year.
In September, the City of Boise donated furniture to our office to accommodate our growing team of case managers. We are thankful that everyone finally has a proper workspace. Please visit us for an office tour - we’d love to show you around!
Next month, there will be many opportunities to stay involved with Jesse Tree. Our phone line is still looking for volunteers (apply here: www.jessetreeidaho.org/volunteer.
