We’re family when there’s nowhere else to turn.
The Jesse Tree team has been busy serving tenants at risk of eviction this fall, in addition to participating in community outreach events to ensure people who need us know about us. As winter nears and tragedy hit our community this week, we know that the world can feel distressing at times, for all of us. We hope you are taking care of yourself and getting support when it's needed.
We sometimes feel overwhelmed by our task at hand. Our staff are fielding applications from hundreds of tenants, going to court, and mediating what can seem like impossible deals between tenants and landlords every day. These challenges can feel insurmountable, but we continue to focus on what we know works: providing support to one family at a time, and leaning on each other.
Many of the tenants we serve have fallen on hard times over the last two years; even more have been dealt with a difficult hand throughout their lives. Hardly any of our clients have family to turn to when times get tough. People often tell us, "You were my last resort."
Can you think of a time when you needed financial help from your family or friends? Most of us can, and maybe there was someone there to support you when you needed it. Maybe there wasn’t.
What it comes down to is - we all need a place to turn to when times get tough. Jesse Tree is that place for many of our neighbors. We thank you for continuing to allow us to be that support.
